Toronto Maple Leafs

If you enjoy hockey, you will have heard about Toronto’s most famous hockey team — the Toronto Maple Leafs. Founded in 1917, this team is part of the National Hockey League and was one of the league’s Original Six. It is officially called the Toronto Maple Leaf Hockey Club. The Toronto Maple Leafs have had numerous victories to date and are one of the strongest teams in the history of hockey. Winning the Stanley Cup 13 times, the Toronto Maple Leafs is undoubtedly one of the greatest hockey teams to look out for. Therefore, take some time to enjoy this fast-paced game and judge for yourself who the best players are.

The Arena

There’s nothing better than watching the Maple Leafs play in their home stadium. Owned by Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Ltd, The Scotiabank Arena, (Air Canada Centre) is on Bay Street in downtown Toronto. It hosts the home games of the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs, the Toronto Raptors, and the Toronto Marlies. This facility is multipurpose. In fact, many cultural events such as music concerts take place here. Add Scotiabank Arena to your Toronto travel itinerary and enjoy the spectacular stadium, restaurants, kiosks and Platinum Club.

The history

Toronto Maple Leafs are a professional ice hockey team, playing in the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League. The Maple Leafs have an incredible past. The team has won many games, breaking records and winning numerous championships. However, in the 1970s, the Leafs experienced a long period of futility, as that decade was the first in which the team didn’t win a title.

Fortunately, Toronto pulled back, qualifying for the playoffs in 2016-17. Despite the team’s lack of success, the Maple Leafs ranked high in the NHL because of the team’s series of rivalries. The most bitter of those was against the Montreal Canadiens and for many fans, it is the greatest team in the world of hockey.

The team

Over the years, the team has seen many successful players come and go. In 2021, Auston Matthews was awarded the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy, having scored 41 goals in 52 games. This success continued, and in 2022, Matthews received the trophy for the second consecutive season. Among the most impressive players, there are several elite players that really stand out from the others. These include John Tavares, Mitch Marner, and William Nylander.

Hockey Hall of Fame

If you love the thrill and excitement of hockey, you can’t miss the chief attraction of the sport — the Hockey Hall of Fame. Here, you can find the “tracks” of the most successful hockey players. However, not all players are eligible to appear here, as there are some requirements to qualify. First, a player must have been retired from competitive hockey for at least three years. Also, a committee of 18 people needs to elect the most talented player. The Hockey Hall of Fame is also a museum, where memorabilia and documents illustrating achievements in the NHL and Stanley Cup are on display.
